Jon and Robbie attended the 13th ICRS meeting in Honolulu, HI from June 19-24. Held every 4 years, ICRS attracts 2,500 scientists, policy-makers, conservationists, and fisheries managers from all over the world. Robbie spoke on the presence of fish disease associated with the 2015-2016 El Niño event in the Galapagos Islands, while Jon gave a talk on the 15-year + trends in Galapagos benthic communities. The conference was also a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and colleagues. Dr. Mark Hixon, chair of biology at the University of Hawaii - Manoa, hosted a party for old lab members (Robbie did his undergrad work with Mark at Oregon State University a decade ago). Pictured from left to right are Dr. Paul Sikkel, Dr. David Booth, Eric Dyer, Dr. Casey Benkwitt, Dr. Tye Kindinger, Eric, Dr. Karen McLeod, Dr. Michael Webster, Dr. Lillian Tuttle, Robbie Lamb, and Dr. Mark Hixon front and center! We also connected with Dr. Sergio Floeter and Dr. Carlos Ferreira from Brazil! We miss Anaide, from Sergio's lab, who worked with us all last year but couldn't make it to the conference. Robbie will be working with Sergio in Florianopolis later this year. Of course we took some time to appreciate the rugged beauty of Hawaii!
